Cardiac Troponin I Rapid Tests CE Marking

Biopanda Reagents offers three types of Rapid Tests for Cardiac Troponin I as follows:

Quantitative Cardiac Troponin I Rapid Test

Product Number: RAPG-cTnI-001

Pack size

25 tests

Product Description

This Point-of-Care rapid test, based on colloidal gold immunochromatography, is designed to detect cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) in serum and plasma samples quantitatively. Results are available in 10-20 minutes, which assists health professionals to diagnose Acute Myocardial Infarction and Unstable Angina, on site. This test is commonly used with patients who are suffering from a suspected heart attack or with patients with worsening Angina. This test is intended to be used with the FIA8000 Quantitative Immunoassay Analyzer.

Test Attributes

  • Whole blood, serum, or plasma may be used for testing
  • Results available in only 15 minutes
  • Easy to use
  • Cost effective method for identifying myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, and ACS

Test Procedure

  1. Ensure sample, and all test reagents are at room temperature before testing. When ready to use, open the foil sealed pouch and remove the test cassette and label with the patient's ID number.
  2. Confirm SD card number is the same as the test kit number printed on the foil pouch. To perform quality control SD operation refer to the relevant section of the FIA8000 User's manual.
  3. Using a pipette take 120 μl (4 drops) of the sample and drop vertically into the well on the test card. For blood samples, load 120 μl of blood into the well followed by one drop of diluent.
  4. Wait for 15 minutes and then load the cassette into the FIA8000. Follow the instructions laid out in the FIA8000 User's manual for reading cassettes. Quantitative results will be printed automatically after about 30 seconds.

Semi-Quantitative Cardiac Troponin I Rapid Test

Product Number: RAPG-cTnI-102

Pack size

20 tests

Product Description

The Biopanda Cardiac Troponin I Rapid Test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the semi-quantitative detection of Cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) in whole blood, serum, and plasma samples. This test is a tool to assist in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction.

Test Attributes

  • Whole blood, serum or plasma may be used for testing
  • Results available in only 10 minutes
  • Easy to use
  • Semi-Quantitative results can be read visually
  • No need for an analyser
  • Cost effective method for identifying myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, and ACS

Test Procedure

  1. Ensure specimen and test kits are brought to room temperature before testing. Ensure the blood specimen is mixed well.
  2. Open the foil wrapped pouch and remove the cassette, placing it on a flat, clean surface. Use the test as soon as possible or within one hour of opening.
  3. For Serum or Plasma specimens:
Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 2 drops of serum or plasma (approximately 50 μl) to the specimen area, then add 1 drop of buffer (approximately 40 μl) to the buffer area, and start the timer.
  4. For Venipuncture Whole Blood specimens:
Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 2 drops of whole blood (approximately 50 μl) to the specimen area, then add 2 drops of buffer (approximately 80 μl) to the buffer area, and start the timer.
  5. For Fingerstick Whole Blood specimens:
To use a capillary tube: Fill the capillary tube and transfer approximately 50 μl of fingerstick whole blood specimen to the specimen area of the test cassette, then add 2 drops of buffer (approximately 80 μl) to the buffer area and start the timer.
To use hanging drops: Allow 2 hanging drops of fingerstick whole blood specimen (approximately 50 μl) to fall into the specimen area of the test cassette, then add 2 drops of buffer (approximately 80 μl) to the buffer area and start the timer.
  6. Wait for the coloured line(s) to appear. Read results at 10 minutes.  Do not interpret the result after 20 minutes.

Test Results

Positive*: Three lines appear. Two coloured lines should appear, one in the control line region (C) and one in the reference line region (R), and another apparent coloured line should be in the test line region (T).
* NOTE: The intensity of the colour in the test line region (T) will vary depending on the concentration of cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) present in the specimen. Therefore, any shade of colour in the test line region (T) should be considered positive.

Semi-quantitative interpretation:
  1. If the intensity of the test band (T) is less than the Reference band (R), cTnI concentration is greater than or equal to 0.3 ng/ml and less than 1 ng/ml.
  2. If the intensity of the test band is equal to or greater than the reference band (R), cTnI concentration is greater than or equal to 1 ng/ml.
Negative: Coloured lines appear in the control line region (C) and reference line region (R). No line appears in the test line region (T).

Invalid: Control or/and reference lines fail to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for control line failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test with a new test. If the problem persists, discontinue using the test kit immediately and contact your local distributor.
